Security
RiskMate™ is hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform in the North Europe data centre, Dublin, Ireland. More information about Microsoft Azure security can he found on the Microsoft Azure website.
SSL
Our servers have SSL Certificates signed by global leaders in certificates, so all data transferred between the users and the service is encrypted. The encryption is the same as that used for Internet banking.
2 Factor Authentication
As an extra line of defence you can set up 2 factor authentication on your account. What this means is that when you login, a popup box appears asking you to enter a special 6 digit pin (that you get from an app on your smartphone).
Then, if someone finds out your account username and password, they won’t be able to login because they won’t be able to enter the pin number.
To setup 2 factor authentication you will need the Google Authenticator app. Google Authenticator is a secure, easy to use, two-factor authentication application for your mobile device that is immune from replay-attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, and a host of other threat vectors.
To find out about Google Authenticator visit the Google website.
Data Protection
At any one time, Windows Azure SQL Database keeps three replicas of data running, one primary replica and two secondary replicas. If the hardware fails on the primary replica, the Windows Azure SQL Database detects the failure and fails over to the secondary replica. In case of a physical loss of the replica, Windows Azure SQL Database creates a new replica automatically. Therefore, there are at least two physical transactionally consistent copies of your data in the data centre.
How is RiskMate™ more secure than desktop software?
With RiskMate™ your data isn’t stored on your computer – if your computer crashes, or gets lost, or stolen, all your data remains completely safe and unaffected.
By allowing your staff to have secure access to your data within RiskMate™, it’s much more secure than sending paper copies or spreadsheets around.
Because we backup your data, you don’t need to. However, you may export your data at any time using the available export reports and these can be in CSV or Excel format so you can manipulate them however you see fit once downloaded.
